PAREMATA PLIMMERTON RFC

eNEWSLETTER 27 April 2023

It is with deep regret that the club gives notice about the passing of Brent Everiss of John Everiss Contracting. A long-time stalwart and support of Paremata Plimmerton Rugby. He was a regular sponsor for Junior rugby at the club during the early playing years of his son's James and Shaun. His sponsorship support continued through to recent years for the Colts and Reserve grades. Brent became unwell in the last two years and passed peacefully on Saturday 22nd of April 2023. Our thoughts and deepest condolences go out to Marie, James, Shaun and the Everiss family.

Poor Conduct Towards Match Officials
A reminder to all our Club members from the WRFU about referee abuse. Our referees are volunteers who give up Saturday mornings and afternoons so rugby players of all ages can hit the fields. We love to watch and have our opinion, but let's not take it too far with our side line critique. Give the referees our support because without them we wouldn’t have a game to watch!

Poor conduct towards match officials is unacceptable and will not be tolerated by the WRRA, the WRFU or Paremata-Plimmerton RFC. There is a zero-tolerance approach towards poor conduct whether it is a player, coach, manager or spectator that is involved.

Poor conduct includes but is not limited to:

  • Physical abuse
  • Verbal abuse
  • Threatening or intimidatory actions
  • Dissent of decisions
  • Foul language directed at match officials

We would also like to remind our members of our Club’s code of conduct policy which can be viewed here:

Two more of our Premier Women reached their milestone blazer games on Saturday 22nd April. Congratulations to both Teana Aliva and Sharn Rohloff!

Junior Rugby
It was a shame we had to cancel our annual Club Day on Saturday due to the rain! Thank you to those who still attended our final registration day. It was fantastic to see so many of you! We currently have 398 registered players for 2023.

You will notice our team names have been translated into Te Reo Māori this year. We're really excited about this change. Please ensure you're using the correct team name as this is what will appear on the draw each week.

Our coaches have kicked off their Small Blacks training this weekend with the Year 7&8 grades. Our training for our Year 1-6 coaches is scheduled for 6pm 9th May at the club.

The season kicks off this Friday and Saturday! Friendly reminder if you haven't picked up your playing jersey or weighed in (Year 5 and up) to contact your team manager.

Key dates for the Junior calendar:

  • Season kicks off this weekend 28/29 April
  • Small Blacks Coaching Course for Year1-6 coaches, 6pm, 9th May at the clubrooms

On Friday 21 April, some of the Y7/8s joined Softy in his mountain to climb challenge - Āhuru Mōwai Trust.  Raising money for special needs kids by climbing Rangituhi/Colonial Knob every day in April.
